Detour Placemats and Table Runner from Night Owl Quilting

I have wanted to have a large set of placemats to use at Thanksgiving and this was the year I made it happen.  I used the Detour pattern from Highway 10 Designs.  Instead of 4 placemats like the pattern is written for I made 16!

I stopped in to Kick Ass Country Store to visit Wayne last year and came across the fall leaf print that I recognized to be by designer Holly Taylor.  After a little research I have found out that it was from the Trail's End collection from 2012!  Wayne always have had a great eye ...

Anita's Arrowhead from Night Owl Quilting

Sydney made this autumnal "Anita's Arrowhead" quilt from fabrics collected over the years.  The Anita's Arrowhead pattern is currently available as a free download from the Quilting Daily website.

There were many pantographs that looked good on this quilt, but we were both drawn to Oak Breeze.  I don't seem to stitch this one out very often, but every time I do I really enjoy the movement it adds.

Sydney added a little bit of interest (and width) to her backing by inserting a gold tone-on-tone stripe down the length of the quilt that compliments the backing ...

Woodland Baby Quarter Sections from Night Owl Quilting

This is the 2nd baby quilt that I made for my first grandchild.  I asked my daughter if she had any requests for a quilt.  She didn't know if she was having a boy or a girl, but had decided on a woodland theme.  She said that she would like me to use one of my Highway 10 Designs patterns.   I was surprised at this request but was happy to oblige once we happened upon a super cute fabric collection.

Quarter Sections is a fat quarter friendly pattern that is available from the Highway 10 Designs website in both ...

Calico Mushrooms from Night Owl Quilting

This fun quilt was made by Lynette.  The pattern is called Calico Mushrooms from Lori Holt's Scrappiness is Happiness book.

Lynette has done a lot of sewing, but this was her first quilting project at the urging of her neighbour Margaret.  Margaret also made a version of this quilt and the two of them had fun digging in Margaret's stash for find all the fun fabrics for the mushroom caps.

Lynette chose the Oak Breeze pantograph and I absolutely love how it looks in the wide border framing this quilt.

Baby Lone Star from Night Owl Quilting

Reneta made this baby sized Lone Star quilt using a really fun fabric line from Art Gallery Fabrics called Little Forester Fusion.  The quilt measures abut 50" square so is a nice generous baby/toddler/lap size.

I used the Oak Breeze pantograph for the quilting and a turquoise thread that matched the background fabric.

Oak Breeze from Night Owl Quilting

Donna brought this lovely quilt that was pieced by her friend Anne who sadly passed away too soon. Donna and other friends have been working to get all of Anne's projects across the finish line and I have been lucky to see many of them.

When Donna contacted me she wasn't sure what type of quilting finish she required, but thought possibly custom because some of the blocks contained hand applique.

Normally I don't like to put a pantograph design over hand applique, but there are exceptions to every rule.  When looking at the overall quilt - the ...

Pick of the Patch from Night Owl Quilting

Reneta made this lovely "Pick of the Patch" quilt.  The pattern comes from the October 2020 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine.    There are free instructions for the block made into a wall hanging here.

Reneta selected the Oak Breeze pantograph and I think it is the perfect compliment to this fall themed quilt.  I love the movement in this panto.

Falling in Love from Night Owl Quilting

Amy brought this serene version of the Fabriculous pattern called "Falling in Love Again"  Amy has made this pattern before and had me customize it for a wedding gift.  You can see that version here.   Amy's mom loved it so much she asked Amy to make one for her to give as wedding gift and Amy agreed!  Amy is obviously an awesome daughter!

Amy selected a new to me pantograph called Autumn Breeze for the body of the quilt.  I love the movement that it has.  I'm sure I will be using it often.

Now for the special ...
